The Nether Spire
One of the best ways to collect resources such as cacti, sugarcane, and mushrooms are to go to the Nether Spire. The Spire itself is made entirely out of Netherrack, which is quick to mine with an iron or diamond pick axe. The spire is 7x17x17 blocks.
Building the Reactor:
The only way to create the Spire is to successfully manufacture and assemble the Nether Reactor. You will need:
1 Nether Reactor Core-(6 iron, 3 diamond)
4 gold blocks-(36 gold ingots)
14 blocks of cobblestone
The assembly goes as so:
(Gold-G, Cobblestone-C, Nether Core-N, Air- -)
You must then click the Nether Reactor to activate.
In the Spire:
After the spire has been built, the cobblestone and gold will become glowing obsidian, so it is recommended to go with friends to mine the gold blocks for reuse. Various objects will spawn in the spire, such as bowls, beds, gold ingots, sugar cane, cacti, both mushrooms, bones, bows, and other objects. Zombie Pigmen will also spawn in the area, and will be hostile instead of neutral. The Reactor will function for a total of 45 seconds, and then the various objects laying around unclaimed will begin to despawn. If you make the reactor close enough to the edge of the world, you will be able to see when it will end because the time of day will turn to night. What will be left is a three floor spire made entirely of Netherrack. The bottom floor will be hollow, and the top two will be filled with whatever filled the space when it was made, stone for example if the spire was made underground.
