Deactivating objects too far away
In theory the game deactivates or unloads all objects that are too far out of bounds either up or down, this is also applied to the player. If you, with a lot of luck, manages to bomb way further down than you can see (preferably using lots of grenades) you can either fall all the way down with the player and if it was deep enough you will not be able to move because you are too far out of bounds. As the level keeps scrolling you will get closer and closer and eventually you will be able to control the player again.
Another way to do this is to perform a deep hole as described and then go as far up as you can. Since the game doesn't end until the bottom of the cave has reached the top, and if you bombed deep enough, the player will end up too high up and get deactivated, making it possible to continue the game.
