Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Tips & Hints

Go through the thousand year door
You need to be in the last chapter, go to the room with a big door (which is the thousand year door) then an thing will be above your head. Then press the A button. then you will go through it.

Submitted By: Doren

8-bit Mario and partners
In X-Naut Fortress, go in to the ventilation shaft in sublevel 2 and drop through the far right vent in to the dressing room. Open the curtain of the stall you fall in to and Mario and all his partners will become 8-bit (they will look as they would on an 8-bit system like the NES) until you leave the room. Entering the room the normal way via the door and going in to this stall, closing the curtain, and opening it again will not work.

Angered Rawk Hawk
After you sign into the Glitz Pit and win a few fights, come into the main lobby to see Rawk Hawk being adored by his fans. Use Mario's Hammer or Flurrie to get rid of the fans, and when all of them are gone, Rawk Hawk will get mad and scold you.

Lottery Cheat
In the lottery at Rogueport if you change your game cube clock to the next day you can cheat the lottery. The second time however you are fined 500 coins for cheating.

Merlee the Enchanter
In Rogueport Sewers, go over to the area where you get to Petal Meadows. You will see a pipe behind bars. Turn into the paper curse and go through the bars and head down the pipe. You will end up on the far back. If you walk to the left and enter the house. Inside is Merlee the Enchanter. She will put a good curse on you that doubles star points, increases attack power, increases defense, and increases the number of coins you get after battle. The most expensive one is 50 coins, I think.

Mario called "Jumpman" by bystander
In Glitzville, when you make a "comeback" after you beat Rawk Hawk the first time and fight your way to the finals, one of the spectators will, instead of cheering "Gonzales", or something to that effect, will cheer "Jumpman! I mean, who?" Jumpman was the original name for Mario before he was called Mario, IE back in the days of Donkey Kong Arcade.

Beat Cortez
When you fight cortez he will be a skeleton. he has 20 hp but comes back 2 times. 1st time use bobbery and blow up the bone pile. use hammer with mario. eventually he will die and come back the same way and do the same thing. right before you kill him the second time switch to flurrie. when he comes back he will be a head and have all his weapons. use items or special attacks on the weapons or else they will poke you. they will be out for about 2 turns. when theyre out attack cortez. when hes low hp he will eat the crowd and get strong again. do the same thing and you shoud beat him.

Ultra Boots and Ultra Hammer
To get the ultra boots you have to be in chapter 6. When you stop at the second stop on the train (riverside station) go in the building. After you explore some more you'll eventuly come to th ultra boots. After the short intro you'll learn spin jump. It's very good in battle. It takes alot of practice to master the spring jump. After chapter 6 go back to Rougeport there will be a treasure chest on top of a high platform. Spin jump under the platform and you get the Ultra Hammer. Now you can break stone blocks, so you can get 2 more shortcuts to Poshley Heights, and Keehaul Key. And you can go to Fhar Outpost.

All parteners avaliable
When you read an E-mail pause the game take out the controllers then reset the gamecube all parteners will be avaliable.NOTE:Make sure you do not save for at least 20 minutes. ( This has been tested.)

Showering Peach
As Princess Peach (this can be done anytime you can take control of her), go to the room left of your bedroom and go up to the shower. When an exclemation Mark appears press A and Peach will take a shower! After she comes out she will also have changed her hair style!

Super Mario World music
When you get an important e-mail (ie; the e-mails from Princess Peach), wait a couple of seconds and you will hear music from Super Mario World.

Easy Star Power Recovery
This only works with Ms. Mowz. Use her Love Slap ability. When she is walking back, at anytime press A and she will skip. This counts as stylish and is really easy to do.

Save yourself!
When your on the train, you will eventually need to get the blanket for the guy near the cargo storage. then you will need to find the ghost. he will want the diary you will then get when you talk to the man again. when you get the diary and read it on the info screen you will be given a choice to read it. DO NOT READ IT! if you keep saying yes, you will start to read it, but wont get 10 words in to it before the ghost appears and is mad at you for reading it and will restart your game. same at the final boss of the game. if you say your her servants forever, your game will restart.

Style
Directly after a hammer attack, or at the highest point after a jump attack, tap A again and Mario will do a stylish trick earning him more star points. This works for his allies as well. Tap A directly after doing Koops shell throw and he will spin on his back earning more style.

Turn into NES Mario
Just like in the first Paper Mario, there is an easter egg to revert Mario from paper to 8-bit sprite. Only this time it works on your partners too! In the X-Naut Base in Chapter Seven. Find the room with the swinging grate on Sublevel 2. Stand under it and use your Ultra Jump to jump up into the air vent. Press R and slide through the grate on the far right. You'll land in the changing room where Peach disguised herself, inside one of the stalls. When you pull back the curtain, you and your partner will be a sprite. This change does not affect game play and will wear off when you leave the room.

Easy Money
Once you've gotten to PetalBurg in the First Chapter you can use a trick to make easy money. First go to RougePort and buy as many sleepy sheep as you can carry, making sure to fill up your storage box aswell. When your pockets and storage box is full, head over to PetalBurg. Once at Petalburg, go into the Item Shop to sell your sleepy sheep for a 2 coin profit per sheep. Make sure you remember to withdraw and sell all the sleepy sheep you stored. To increase productivity, on the way back to rougueport, stock up on turtley leaves, again filling up the storage box, and sell them at the item shop where you picked up the sleepy sheep to gain 2 coins per leaf. After getting Taste T. you can cook the leaves into koopa tea for an extra 1 coin per leaf.

Professor Frankly's House: Enemy tattle log information:
If you defeat a Boss or enemy that you fight once (for example, Hooktail, Red Bones, Gus, etc.), and you do not tattle on them, you can get their information by looking in the yellow trash can in Professor Frankly's house.

Rogueport: Secret door
In Rougeport, go east to where the bandit stole your coins. Go up and through the wall.

Rogueport: Hidden crystal star
Go in front of Franky's house and do a Power Bomb. Note: You must get the new shoe from Chapter 2.

Shadow Palace: Classic Mario reference
Listen carefully to the music inside the Shadow Palace, you will notice that it is a slower remix of the classic Mario "pipe" theme (like the one in Super Mario Sunshine inside the pipes, or in Super Mario 64 in Hazy Maze Cave).

Trouble Center: Ms. Mowz
In story mode, you will get six characters (Goombella, Koops, Madame Flurrie, Yoshi, Vivian, and Admiral Bobbery). However after Chapter 4, go to the Trouble Center and take the chore of the mystery person. You will figure out that it is the mouse thief and when the mission is over you get the partner Ms. Mowz.

After Chapter 4, a trouble in the Trouble Center that has the recipient, ???. It is Ms. Mowz. She needs a badge in Hooktail Castle. In the room where you fought her, in the middle is an invisible chest. Use Flurrie. Give the badge to her, and she will join your party.

Twilight Town: Letter p
The person who stole Body's name is Doopliss, but there is no lower case "p". Go to the creepy steeple outside the place. Go down the well. Go as far as you can until you reach a gate-like object. Push it, then use Vivian's ability to go under it. Slide down the hill and get the letter "p". Guess his name and he will run away. Go to where you first met him, then defeat him. Do not bother attacking his partners. Defeat him to get your body back. Get the crystal star to complete Chapter 4.

Twilight Town: Easy Amayzee Dayzee
Go to the area where you first enter the woods in Twilight Town (where you see your first Crazee Dayzee, at the area just after you take the warp pipe). The first Crayzee Dayzee is special -- do not kill it. Enter a battle with him. Most likely, there will not be an Amayzee Dayzee in the battle. If there is not, run away from him and go back towards the warp pipe, leaving the area. Turn back around after leaving the woods and go back in. The Crazee Dayzee will still be there (if you did not kill him). Enter a battle with him again. Repeat this until you find an Amayzee Dayzee. They are worth about 50 Star points.

Twilight Trail: Easy Star Points
After Chapter 8, it is difficult to get Star Points. Go to the Twilight Trail and kill everything there until you find an Amazing Dazy. Then, use everything you have to kill it. If you make a mistake, it will run away or hit you for 20 points. To defeat it, try using Art Attack or Supernova. After defeating it, you will get about 38 Star Points.

X-Naut Fortress : Classic Mario
To turn yourself into the Mario from Super Mario Bros., go to the X-Naut Fortress and go to the room where you have to Spring-Jump through the air vent. Spring-Jump up there, then move to the right. Go into paper mode by holding R and fall through the vent. You will land in the second changing curtain. When you open it, Mario and all of his partners will be NES characters. The Mario theme will also play. When you exit the room, the music will stop and you and your partners will revert back to normal.

Ghost's Curse
This really won't help you in your game, in fact, save before you do this, or you'll lose some game data. -- When you find the Ragged Diary in the Excess Train's Baggage Cart after meeting the ghost, read the diary and the ghost will appear out of nowhere really angry and curse Mario, earning you an instant game over.

Missing Tattle Logs
Missed any Tattle Logs, particularly boss logs? They are not gone for good. Check Professor Frankly's yellow trash can. You will find Tattle Logs thrown away for bosses and other once-only enemies. The log will only appear in the trash once you've gone past the last possible point to Tattle that enemy.

Wario clothes
To get Wario's clothes for Mario, go to the central area of Rougeport with 360 Coins. There should be a merchant with a large mustache. He sells something called a Wario Emblem from time to time. It is a badge that requires no badge points to wear.

Luigi clothes
To get Luigi's clothes, go to where you get the sixth crystal star. From here, do a spring jump up to a pole on the left side. Do another spring jump to reach a ledge with the Luigi Emblem.

Waluigi clothes
Equip both the Luigi Emblem and the Wario Emblem at the same time. Your clothes will be exactly like Waluigi's.

W Emblem2
To get the W-emblem2 you need W-emblem and L-emblem. Equipe the 2 badges on at the same time and you will have the W-emblem2.

The Secret Behind the Title
The big ship you see there has pulleys and chains. Well, back in the old days during pirate time, Captains would keelhaul shipmates by tying them to pulleys and lowering them in the water. Thus, leading the pulleys to the other side of the ship, scraping the shipmates on the bottom of the ship. Many pirates died from lack of air and injuries back then. That is why the name is Keelhaul! Torturous don't you think

Infinite Shop Points
First you will have to have given Zest T. her new contact lense. Then buy a lot of mushrooms at the shop in RoguePort for 5 coins each. Then cook them all into Shroom Frys at Zest T.'s. You can sell the Shroom Frys back for 5 coins, the same price you paid for the mushrooms. Using this you can gain free shop points. Note: This trick only works once you have Zest T.

Double partner ranking
After Twilight Town, go to Merlins he will tell you something (I forget what) go to Hooktail Castle and go to the room where you found the key to the black chest. Go to the back of the room, use Bobbery to blow a hole in the wall from the crack and get the chest, which contains an Up Arrow. Go to back to Merlin and show him the Up Arrow and he will spin up into his attic and get a red orb that will replace the blue one already there. You can now double your partners rank.

Superpower
With Mario, whenever you pwer his attack up by 1, his jump will increase power by 2. This is because jumos are double attacks and both times you hit an enemy the attack is increased. Anyway, Many powerups are easy to find along the way. When your jump is superstrong, especially if you have spike shield, you dont need a hammer so good ones to have equipped and where to find them are:

Spikeshield:
Use Vivian under rogueport in a room of spikes

Jumpman:
buy from trader in rogueport

Powerplus:
Multiple places

P-up d-down:
Rest stop on the excess espress in the series of tunnels while you are rolled up

All or nothing:
Shadow Palace

Power jump:
Pianta parlor or rogueport shop(good for high defensive enemies)

And any extras of these you might find. My superpowered Mario does 20 damage with his regular jump!

Shine Sprites
Get three shine sprites. Then go to rougeport and go through the door with a shine sprite above it. Then you will be able to upgrade any partner of yours!

Infinite Coconuts in Kehaul Key
Go to the area with the rope bridge. While you are on th west(left) side of the bridge, you will notice some stairs. Go down them. Use your yoshi to cross to a small platform. Don't get off your yoshi yet! Use it to go even farther east. You will see a pipe. Go down it. You should come back up on an island in the background. You will see a palm tree with 2 coconuts. Smash it once with your hammer to get one coconut and again to get the other one. Go back through the pipe. Use your yoshi to go back to the stairs. Go up them. Leave the area. As soon as you appear somewhere else, turn around and go back. You will see that the tree sprouted 2 more coconuts. Repeat everything you just did as many times as desired.

Secret Info
On the west side of Rogueport, turn into paper mode by pressing "R". Jump across the platforms and go through the big door. Then jump onto the platform that moves up and down. Go left and enter the building. Talk to the fat man named "Wonky". For 5 coins he will give you some vital info. This is good for people playing Paper Mario the first time.

Super Sayan Badge
This badge beats the shadow queen very easily. I luckyily found this and its AWESOME! YOu have to be a lavel 25 or higher to get it. Alright first you have to go to twilight town and talk to the guy in front of the gate after that you have to go to a badge place and buy the most expensive thing there. Dont ask me why to do that but its the only way. Then talk to the profeser. Next go to keyhole island and buy everthing from the shop. After this go to rougeport and wait 30 min by the train. The train will leave and this guy will be there and he will ask you if you want to cross to the other side say yes. This is where the items you bought come in. He will ask you for them to go across but sometimes he doesnt its weird. Go across and go to the left and you will get it. If this doesnt work try it again and make sure you did everything the right way. It will use 15 badge power. It will do 50 attack and mario looks sweet. Hope that helps you get it and kick the shit out of the shadow queen.
