Unlock sixteen playable characters. The Adept capsule will appear in the capsule shop.

Unlock all twenty nine characters. The Advanced capsule will appear in the capsule shop.

Successfully complete novice and adept modes in tournament and save the game to a memory card. Get a different memory card with no file from the game. Complete story mode and go to Mr. Popo's shop. Put the memory cards in slots one and two. Trade the Dragon Ball from the new saved file on memory card two to Memory Card one. Remove both memory cards. Put the memory card that was in slot two into slot one. You will now have all the characters from the saved game file on memory card one.

Press Y when selecting a stage to play in the night version or new part of the stage. Note: Some stages do not have an alternate version.

When you go into the arena selection screen and have highlighted the stage you want to fight at, press Y. The stage will be selected, and you will go to a different arena. Red Ribbon Base is the only arena that is actually in a different area. All the other stages, except for Planet Namek, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and the Kai's planet (the one with the sword stuck in the hill) are a different time of day (either dusk or night, depending on the stage).

When fighting in training or duel modes, you can change your character's costume by pressing B so that you will turn to the question mark. Then, press A to choose a character. They will have different costumes. For example, Piccolo will look like Nail and Gohan will fight in his father's costume.

To change costumes, go to the character and press Up or Down. You will be able to select a different costumes. Some characters may have three choices but most have only two.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 Items

To get all Breakthrough Capsules, complete Advanced Tournament with a good character (to get all the good side breakthroughs), then complete it with an evil character to get theirs. Note: You may have to complete every tournament level with a good and an evil character.

Buy all the red capsules that you can get with the Gold Card.

Buy all the red capsules that you can get with the Silver Card.

Buy all red capsules that you can get at the beginning. Alternately, have a saved game from the original Dragon Ball Z: Budokai on your memory card.

To get Bulma's costumes, get all the Dragon Balls. Then, summon the dragon. If you are lucky, you can get Bulma's costumes. Bulma's costume will change the way that Bulma appears in the capsule shop.

This trick requires two players and Babidi's Spaceship. First, go to Babidi's Spaceship. When asked how many players are playing, select "2P". One of the mini-games involves locking your Ki and Health together. Select that game. You can now recharge your health during a fight. Note: Since this trick locks your Ki and Health together, you can now lose health by using any Ki-draining special attack.

To pick up a Dragon Ball after it is in the center of the Dragon Ball Radar, just select the character that is on top of the Dragon Ball and press B.

Go to the Red Ribbon Base and knock your opponent into one of the generators. A robot will fly out from the ceiling and launch missiles. This will cause 400 points of damage to your opponent. Knock your opponent through the large bay doors to fight outside.

On Babidi's Spaceship, change into Captain Ginyu and your opponent's character. Go to number 1, and when your health gets into the red, switch bodies. Then, kill your regular body. After that, switch back and your health will be back in the green.

Equip Goten or Kid Trunks with the Fusion. While you are fighting, press P + K + G (Y + B + A). You will have all of their moves as if you chose that character at the start. Note: No transformation is possible.

Get a Viral Heart Disease Skill and put it on for support. Then, get a Vaccine to not make your Power decrease, but your opponent's will. Just block until their health is in the orange. You should now be able to defeat them.

Unlock Mysterious Vest and Super Holy Water. Equip them and something else to Goten. Every time in Dragon World, get Goten as an ally. Have Goten and Goku stand next to each other. Then, try to get an armor thing or two. If you get two worth +20%, you will be almost invincible.

Defeat Fat Buu the first time you see him, in the level where he gets resurrected and kills Babidi, with Goku. Super Saiyan 3 requires five Ki gauges to use. Once you transform your Ki will begin dropping very quickly. However, Super Saiyan 3 also super-charges your attacks. This means that Warp Kamehameha and Super Spirit Bomb (and your other attacks such as Kamehameha and Zanku Fist) will now be even more powerful than they already were.

On a level where three characters are playable (Goku, Gohan, and Goten), take one of the three and walk onto the same space as another one. They will power up. With the same character, walk onto the same space as the other one. They will power up again. Next, search for defensive power-ups and equip Sturdy Vest. By now, these characters' defense should be at 200 (at least). A normal attack will do half of 1 point damage.

Hold A when charging up for a special to charge faster. This the only way to get Majin Vegeta's Final Explosion move without getting destroyed.

Turn Super Saiyan or Super Namek. While in this form, change to any character. Notice the character you changed from will be powered down to normal.

When you fighting someone, charge your Ki for one second. Then, press Select and you will have maximum Ki. You can do this as long as desired.

Equip two of the same type of beam attacks (such as Galick Gun, Kamehameha, Buster Cannon, etc.) to your fighter. They will be twice as big and powerful as before.

On planet Namek, face Captain Ginyu with Vegeta. Do not fight him while he has the dizzy symbol over his head or you will take two lives and likely kill him. Instead, beat him once and make him challenge you. If done correctly, you will see an FMV sequence where Ginyu asks Vegeta to join the Ginyu Force. Vegeta will reply that he would never do that stupid pose. Also, after you take away one life and fight him again, Vegeta will tell Ginyu that the Ginyu Force has been changed to the Vegeta Special Forces and Captain Ginyu is welcome to join.

In practice mode, choose any two characters and set the Defense Ki Blast Wave to deflect-back. Jump as far away as possible and fire a Ki attack. Your opponent will deflect it back, and you can do the same. If done correctly you will play "ping pong".

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 Items

When fighting Dr. Gero's colored Saibamen, he calls them Saiba Rangers. The colors are Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Pink and are a reference to the Power Rangers.

When fighting Kid Buu in Dragon World mode, when he does the vanishing drop technique it is exactly the same as the Missing Screw move that Zarbon used in the original Dragon Ball Z: Budokai.

If you look closely when fighting in the Budokai arena, some of the fans resemble characters from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. For example, Emperor Pilaf and Mai from the original Dragon Ball, and King Kai.

After the stage where Vegeta get s taken over by Babidi, Freeza and Cell come back to life. This happens in Dragon Ball GT.

You must have Goku equipped with the Potara skill for this trick. Start a duel and choose Goku. Perform the Potara attack. If your opponent chooses the same button as you, Goku will not fuse, but his attack voice will be different. For example, instead of saying "Kamehameha", he will grunt as he would if fused with Vegeta.

In the chapter where you first meet Cell, if he warps to the location were your upper ally was at, he will not be able to move or warp anywhere (as long as Goku is on the spot where he started). This will allow your other two characters run around and dig at all the other spots, pick everything up, and defeat al the Cell Jrs.
