Open the cheat box by pressing down Ctrl + shift + C

Code:	Result:
changelotzoning [residential | community | apartmentbase]	Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like
clearLotClassValue	clears any "changeLotClassification" cheat used on the lot and sets the lot class to the correct calculated value.
boolProp aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled false	makes all building tools available for building apartments
printLotClass	prints the lot's class (low, middle, or high) as well as the corresponding numerical lot class value.
changeLotClassification [low | middle | high]	This changes the lot classification of the lot. The lot will remain this classification until the following cheat is used.

Create a new residential lot and build an apartment that suits you. When you have finished building your apartment and have added all windows, doors etc. bring up the cheat menu (CTRL + SHIFT + C) and type in "changelotzoning apartmentbase" (without the quotes) and then save and exit to the neighbourhood. Now move a family into the lot you just created. When the family arrives on the lot, you will notice that the old residential mailbox is now a multi apartment mailbox. You can now play the lot as you would any other apartment lot. (NOTE: If you ever want to edit the wall's, doors etc. you will have to change the lot back into a residential lot "changelotzoning residential" however the sims will no longer own their own apartments)
