Monster Hunter Tips & Hints

Easy Money + More

Instead of having to buy the BBQ and doing the first quest -- which you have to get two raw pieces of meat, and then cook 8 pieces of well-done steaks that you can sell at the market -- try the quest where you have to prepare meat. In this quest, you have to cook one piece of well-done steak. This means that you can have 9 other well-done steaks to sell and also you do not have to buy a BBQ. It is provided for you as long as you have raw meat with you. Sell the 9 well-done steaks for $48 each.

Hint: when you head into area 1, go down to the water's edge and go as far right as possible. There will be a big pile of poo. Walk on to it and press x. You will then dig into the poo and find either dung or a scale that starts with the letter "K." If you get dung when you dig keep trying. The scale is worth $250 at the market. Also go in and out of the quest 2 or more times and then go back to the dung and the scale will be there again.

Item duplication

This trick requires two players. First, have player one take an item such as an Immunizer, Mega Juice, Mega Nutriment, Max Potion, Sm Bone Husk, etc., (all Rare 3 and under). Player two must have an empty inventory. Start a quest that is very easy to finish, such as "It's Party Time". When the quest begins, have player one give all the items to player two. When player one has no more items, have him abandon the quest. Player two should finish the quest. By abandoning the quest, player one will keep their items, and by finishing the quest, player two still have the items received. Do this a few times and you will be able to get easy money by selling the items.

Monster Attacks hint

Try to be prepared to lure a monster to its death. Set traps in multiple places around your village. When a monster is spotted, lure it towards traps. As the monster goes past, have a teammate shoot the traps. They will blow up, injuring or killing the monsters.

Free items

When you are in a quest go to your camp and leave all the stuff you want from the supply box in the supply box. Then beat the mission after it says you will return to town in 30 secs then go to the supply box and take all the stuff you want. When the mission is over and it says all supplys have been returned but when you get to the town you will still have the stuff you took. (use on kelbi mission for easy items.)

Easy money

Once you get the money to buy a BBQ Spit, buy it, then go to the Quest Level 1 missions and do Mission 1. Get ten pieces of Raw Meat. Cook eight pieces of Well Done Meat, then take the other two pieces to the Deliver Box. As soon as you complete the mission and return to your village, go to the woman at the fruit stands. You can sell her Well Done Steak for $48 each.

Recover health on a mission

If you are out of potions and low on health while on a mission, just find the hut that you start at and press X by the bed. Your character will sleep and recover health.

Trade Money Online

Normally players cannot exchange money with other players. However, on the day that the marketplace has it's half price sale, you can buy Genprey Fangs and Ioprey Fangs from the old man in the upper-left of the screen for the same price that you can sell them for. One player can buy the fangs and trade them to a second player who can sell them. In this way you can trade money to other players.

Get Tons Of Money

A good way to get a lot of money is that when you find or carve something rare take it to the local market and sell it.

Getting good weapons

Get two small monster bones from the monsters. This can be done in the first level, but if you want to get the sword immediately after the level do not spend $50 before the first level. Then, go to the weapon crafter and have him create the bone sword. It is slow but is incredibly strong.

Bombs

Be careful when using different types of bombs, here is a list of what bombs work on.

Flash Bomb:
Works well on small monsters (like *prey and *drome), doesn't work on sand monsters (Cephalos/drome) or the Gypceros (swamp wyvern), unwise to use on Yian Kut-Ku if you are a blademaster.

Sonic Bomb:
Works best on mediocre wyverns. Used mainly to scare sand wyverns (Cephalos/drome) up to the surface and making Yian Kut-Ku go crazy.

Dung Bomb:
Doesn't work on most wyverns or monsters. Best used on large wyverns such as Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos or Monoblos.

Sm Barrel Bomb:
Good for killing large monsters (like Velocidromes) to small wyverns (like the Yian Kut-Ku). Be careful when using on 'easily angered' wyverns, as they may get more aggresive and do more damage with less reaction time for attacks. Be careful to get away, these are time bomb and you have about 5 seconds to get away once placed. Works for scaring wyverns to the surface.

Large Barrel Bomb:
Best for most wyverns. Require physical impact to explode, best way is to throw a stone at them to set them off if you are an accurate thrower. Best not used if you are bad at dodging.

Cutting up the Rathalos

When fighting the Rathalos be prepared for a tough battle but here is a little secret... you can cut off 3 parts of the Rathalos. First its wing claws, after you have progressed in the battle slightly they will fall off. Then its head crest, after this falls off your very far in the fight! Then you can cut of its tail. After constant slashing to the tail it may fall off, then you can carve that.

Rathalos's Blind Spot

The Rathalos's blind spot is about 5-10 feet
in front of its face. Keep that in mind on egg collecting quests!

Easy money, big boy style!

Right, in the level 3 quests, you will get a quest called "Liver of Legend". Now, this is an awesome map, because there is lots to gain from it. There are three mining places (Make sure to take Felvine with you), where lots of Machalite ore is. If you have upgraded an Iron Sword, of the Great Sword variety, then you will have no problems hacking through the Cephalos, too, and once you have all 3 Livers that you need, keep going, because additional Livers are worth 300 Gold each, and the Scales that you can get from them are worth 450 Gold, or around about that. At the end, if you are lucky, you also get Piscene Jaws at the end, which are worth a lot too. Someone who takes 1 Cool Drink with then, and enough Well-Done Meat, and is experienced with Great Swords, can easily make about 5,000 Gold with this trick, and it's almost damage free, you'll learn how to donge most of their attacks whilst fighting them. In general, just stay away from their right-hand sides, to prevent tail sweeps knocking you away, or else they'll dive back under the sand.

How to make explosives (Hand)

Sap Plant + Stone = Bomb Material (Use this for hand thrown Grenades, such as if you add dung, makes dung bomb).

What not to do to Yian Kut-Ku...

NEVER! throw a flash grenade at it if you are a blademaster. It thrashes around like mad, killing anything nearby, and if it hits any creatures (such as mosswines), they attack you, hindering your aim, and knocking you over when you go in for the kill, annoying you. Sonic grenades are recommended, it has sensitive ears, and it is deafened if you hit it with a Sonic. This means it can't hear you.

3 free Yian Kut-Ku Scales

Well, in the Forest and Hills map, in the first zone, there is a pile of dung. Search in there and you have a chance to find Scale number 1. Also, up in the Wyvern cave, where there is sometimes a Rathalos (Only in the dragon missions) There is a large tusk quite close to the mine. Search around that tusk, and there is a chance that you will find 2 Scales. All of the Yian Kut-Ku Scales are worth 250G each, but you can also make some good armour with then (e.g. Battle Armour and Kut-Ku armour).

Limited Invulnerability

Well, here is the thing. At the end of a gathering quest, you have 20 seconds to burn, yeah? Well, at the end of a hunting quest, you have 1 minute to burn. While the clock is ticking, you are completely invulnerable to any attack whatsoever, so use this time carefully! You can take down multiple enemies that are weak without even having to think about losing health during this time. Enjoy, and happy hunting!
