Dark Cloud Unlockables

Unlock The Demon Shaft
Hmmm... the Demon Shaft. Doesn't sound like a place you want to be, does it? The Demon Shaft is a hellishly long dungeon (100 levels) that you get after you complete Dark Cloud. Once you unlock it, you can access it through the "Go To Other Areas" Map.

Invincibility
Successfully complete every level up to the Gallery Of Time then return to any either of the first two levels. No damage will be done to you when someone attacks. You will loose life only when you go to back levels and when you get poisoned.

Snake duel
To successfully win the duel at Wise Owl Forest, equip the Serpent Sword. Note: You will acquire the sword after connecting the Waterfall to the Tree Fairy via River. You will also get the Battle Axe for Goro.

Dark Cloud Tips & Hints

Use Armor Wisely
Avoid wearing metal armor against enemies that have good electrical attacks (Undead). Instead, get a higher-level Leather armor to protect yourself. Don't even dream of going to the lower regions of the Necropolis wearing metallic armor (Plate or Chain).

How to Use Reagents
There are three Reagents in the game, which will help Anna grow her abilities. These can be found in each of the three Dungeons in the realm. Once found, they can be taken to the reagent receptacles in each of the three towns. In Westhaven, place a Potent Candle in the Tome of Knowledge to gain +1 Intellect. Potent Candles can be found in the Necropolis. In Rygard, place a Life Seed in the Life Chalice to gain +1 Life Force. Life Seeds can be found in the Ancient Forest. In Hom, place a piece of Power Ore in the Golden Statue to gain +1 Strength. Power Ore can be found in the Lost City.

Find Special Items
There are three special types of items that are found almost exclusively in their respective dungeons. These items are useful for trade, fulfilling donation quests or for purchasing certain kinds of weapons:

- Power Gems can be found in the Lost City.
- Ooze can be found in the Ancient Forest.
- Necrystal can be found in the Necropolis.

Bonus Dungeon Treasure
Every tenth level of a dungeon contains extra treasure. Make sure you search every corner of the dungeon for the rooms that contain lots of bonus chests. Inside, you will find tons of top-dollar gear, including lots of armor and high level weapons.

Shop with your Sword!
A quick way to gain exp/items/gold is to make an side trip to Tanglewood, The Badlands, or The Frozen Wastes. Each location has a portal producing endless streams of Monsters, most with loot. The trick is to equip for the trip: "Seer" for experience, "Ivory" for items, "Greedy" for gold. Just follow the stream of monsters to the portal. When you've had enough, smash the portal to aid the nearby villages. Don't worry it regenerates so you can go "Shopping with your Sword" again!

Max weapons fast
To do this you need to leave two attachment slots open. then go to gaffers buggy then go to the attatchment section and go to the very bottom right corner and press x and right fast at the same time.

Easy Weapon Buildup
The way I found easiest to build up your weapons to status breaks and upgrades is to go to the back of the dungeons in Macka Lacka, where the blue dragons reside, and bring a built-up status break with a decent fire rating. Killing these dragons and the steel golems that reside there give you alot of weapon points. Just keep going back and forth between the front dungeon and back dungeon with out leaving the level itself and you can build your weapons infinitely. Make sure you bring plenty of water. Don't worry about repair powder, as the golems give you powder when they die.

Weapon Buildup (All Characters)
When it gets difficult to beat enimies in the lower floors of the dungeon. Go to the upper floors where you know you can beat all enimies without difficulty. Open all chests. Most of the time, you will recive attachments. Fight all enimies in the levels to increase you Abs (Absortion Power) and use the attachments when you can upgrade. If you have power-up powder, do not upgrade until Abs is full, you can upgrade twice in one go making you weapon evn stronger between battle. Keep building up past level 5 to as high as you want (Divine Beast Cave orks best past level 15). This is also a good technique if your default weapon has broke.

Easy money
Go into the divine beast cave then get alot of prickly fishing bate and sell it for alot of money.

Easy Free Items
Before finishing Gaffer's Buggey in Norune village, win the duel with Master Jacket (the skeleton with the jacket) in Divine Beast Cave. every time you go through that floor, there will be no enemies, and the Mayor gives you items every time you go through a cave, if Gaffer's Buggey is finished.

The dark genie
Ok here is the easiest way to beat the dark genie. When you start make sure you have at least 10 cheeses and a couple of repair powders and like 5 stamina drinks. ok when he starts be toan and when he shoots his hand into the ground his hand will pop up were ever you are so move all the time. when his hand pops up you will see a colour on his hand this is the type of attribute you need active on your weapon. which ever hand it is left or right it will stay that color untill he goes into a huddle sort of thing and it takes 3200hp to destroy the hands each. and you should have at least a 7th heaven or something equal to it like the sword of zeus or chronicle sword. and the only way he can hit you when hes in the hand stage is very annoying he flaps his wings and it takes you down 32 hp and if he hits you with his hand you die atomaticly on the next stage he shoots a beam from his head and he shoots wind. the bieam kills you attomaticaly. so be ruby with the holy attachment then he'll shoot the beam so start running when the beam hits the ground not you aim at his head and shoot one quick blast and reapeat this takes 2000 hp.then he will morph into a dog and you will need to be ruby again with holy. dont worry about his minions they just walk really slow. he shoots a beam from his mouth so run quickly from that and then when thats done run up to his mouth and do a quick blast when locked on. reapeat this process and another attack of his is he stomps on the ground and flames come out just doge these theyre easy then youve beat the dark genie.

Defeating the Ice Queen Boss
To easily defeat the Ice Queen Boss in the Shipwreck dungeon, make sure you have fifteen Fire Gems (buy them at Joker's house). Toss them one at a time at the Ice Queen to defeat her. Using this method, you can take her down using only one character.

Gem Attachments List
Looking for a quick and dirty listing of what the different gem attachments do for your weapons? Here it is:

Amethyst: +10 Ice, +10 Dinosaurs, +10 Mages
Aquamarine: +10 Ice, +10 Flyers, +10 Marine
Diamond: +10 Metal, +5 to all other anti-enemy stats
Emerald: +10 Magic, +10 Dinosaurs, +10 Plants
Garnet: +5 Attack, +10 Fire, +10 Stone, +10 Flyers
Opal: +10 Endurance, +10 Metal, +10 Mages
Pearl: +10 Endurance, +10 Thunder, +10 Undead
Peridot: +5 Attack, +10 Holy, +10 Plants, +10 Beasts
Ruby: +10 Speed, +10 Fire, +10 Mimics
Sapphire: +10 Magic, +10 Wind, +10 Flyers
Topaz: +5 Attack, + 10 Undead, +10 Flyers
Turquoise: +10 Ice, +10 Stone, +10 Mimics

Weapon Level-Up
If you're into upgrading your weapons and creating Synth Spheres, here's a helpful tip that lets you quickly raise low-level weapons to Level 5 so that you can Limit Break them in a sphere. The problem is of course that fighting tougher enemies with a low-level weapon not only requires you to repair it frequently, but it also takes a long time to defeat the enemy. But why fight with the lower level weapon? Simply pick your most powerful weapon, and quickly defeat the enemy. Now, before the slain enemy vanishes, switch to the weapon you want to upgrade. Since there is a small delay before the WHP for the defeated enemy is added, you can easily build up lesser weapons that aren't suited for the enemies you're fighting -- so that you can turn them into spheres and add their powers to your favorite weapon.

Requests
When in a town ask some one how to rebuild their city. Talk to everyone in that town and fulfill their requests. Here is a list of what they give you. Norune Village:Wind mill slash. Matataki Village:Goro's Battle axe & a powerup powder. Queens: Toan's Macho Sword. Muska Racka:Ungaga's Mirage & a diamond.Thats it, none of the other cities can be arranged, all you get is events(no houses)

Demon Shaft dungeon
After completing the game, you will be prompted to save. After saving, reload your game, and a new location will appear on the world map. It is the Demon Shaft, an extremely hard dungeon, with 100 floors.

Defeating Black Pendragon
When fighting the Black Pendragon at the end of the Demon Shaft, only attack with one hit then retreat. If you attempt a combo he will counter and cause your sword, no matter how powerful, to instantly break. Save immediately before you attempt to battle him, to avoid losing any precious weapons such as a Chronicle Sword.

Defeating Ice Queen Saia
Buy about fifteen Fire Gems from Joker's Store in Queens. If you need money, sell fishing bait. When the battle starts, use a Drans Feather to get very close to her while trying to avoid her shots. When you are close enough to her, get a lock and just keep tossing the gems at her. It is best if you can keep her trapped in a corner.

Defeating Minotaur
Use either Toan or Osmond. As the Minotaur runs around the arena, barrels will start to fall. The Minotaur will pick up a barrel and start drinking. Run towards him and attack, then retreat. Repeat this process and avoid his charge attacks for an easy victory. Note: The barrels count as Stamina Drinks to the Minotaur, so do not let him finish drinking, or one attack will probably kill you.

Extra damage as Ruby
When Ruby is your chosen character, to get the same damage as she would with a charge hold Down. Release it before she glows. She should do more damage and take only 1 instead of 2 WHP.

Easy battles
Find a shop that has bombs (for example, the first shop in Norune Village). Ask the person that is running the shop if you can shop there. Trade in all fish bait and sword gems (Garnet, Sea, Pearl, Ruby, Diamond). Buy as many bombs, water, and bread as possible. Go to any dungeon and put nine bombs in one pouch. When you see a monster, lock on and throw it. Most monsters take one bomb, but the big Mimic takes two or three. Repeat this to all monsters in all floors of the dungeons and it will be a lot easier, especially when you can only use a certain character on some floors.

Almost max attachment
When you try to get the max attachment, you might get a fixed dagger instead of a broken one. This version gives the weapon that has it equipped different statuses (Thirst, Critical, etc.) and it will not max all your weapon's stats. Technically, it is not a max attachment, but an "almost" max attachment.

Early guns
When you reach Yellow Drops and are told about the Moon Sea, you can shop at the store. You can buy Osmand's guns before you even get Osmand as an ally. You will not have to waste more time going all the way back and buying them. You can buy a "Snail" and a "Jakal".

Back areas
When you first complete a dungeon, play through it a second time and try and get "Special Keys". These keys provide access to "back areas" which have more difficult monsters in them, but the have really good items. Since you have played through the dungeon once, the difficult monsters will be easier to defeat. This is the easiest way to get gems. The key changes in each town/zone.

Carrots
Have a weapon with the Steal ability. Go to Wise Owl Forest levels 5 and 6 or higher. Use the weapon on the Haley Holies. Every once in a while you will get a carrot. Levels 5 and 6 are the levels where you are more likely get Sun Dews. If you get enough Sun Dews, you can go to all the back floors and find the floor with Hally Hollies on it. You can get unlimited Carrots and training for your weapons. After you get all the Carrots desired, go to Peanut Pond in Matataki. Fish with a Carrot. If no fishes bite, stop fishing, then start again and use the Carrot. When a fish is interested, catch it. It will be the easiest to catch rare fish, Umadakara.

Weapons upgrade
If you encounter a duplicate weapon, rather than selling it, you can actually status break your original weapon to it. This eases the build-up process. This is very useful if you are building up weapons with a low WHP and Endurance, such as the Bone Rapier, Bone Slingshot, etc.

Wise Owl Forest token
Use the following trick when in Wise Owl Forest. When you enter the forest, on almost any level the second token you pick up (for example, the pointy acorn, "red berry", or shiny stone) will be the token that the owl at the exit will want. If you have to play a single character limited zone with a weak character, throw items until you find the second token then get out of there.

Defeat the Divine Beast
Use Xiao to hit him while he is flying and switch to Toan after he falls. Attack with your sword; you may use stamina potions and feathers if you wish. Just continue the pattern to defeat this boss.

Defeating Forest Guardian
Auto target the monkey and use your hammer to smash its toes. Get close, wait until he swings at you and move in close and attack. He will be stunned, giving you time to use your strongest character to move in and attack. Repeat until he's dead.

Submitted By: vhayste

The Kings Curse
Using Ungaga, get some distance between you and the boss then turn and face him and hold down the attack button to do his special. The boss will walk right into it and be stunned, giving you a chance to switch to your strongest character and attack him. Switch back to Ungaga and repeat.

Defeat Minotaur
Toan will your key character here. Make use of his affection for those kegs by standing with one between you and the minotaur. He will charge you but stop when he hits the keg and pick it up. While he is drinking it you have time to charge in and hit him. When you do he will run off giving you time to find another keg to hide behind. You can also use a ranged attack while you are wating for him to come back if you want.

Odd Gaffer Secret
When building Norune village, be sure to build Pike's house BEFORE Odd Gaffer's store. If you don't, Odd Gaffer will hurt his back while fixing his sign, which will limit the items he sells in his store. However, if you build Pike's house first, there will be an event where Pike helps Odd Gaffer with his sign. This event will unlock a lot of other items from Old Gaffer's Store.

Jack's Store Secret
In Queens, complete the King's house first to get the genie, Ruby, as an ally. After this, complete Jack's weapons store. If you have Ruby in your party when you visit his store, he will give you the Platnum Ring and a hammer with a money making ability!
