To unlock more weapons/items you must collect a certain amount of ghosts (by eating other racers) in each cup....
To Unlock Nightmare Difficulty you must complete each cup on hard mode. You also have to come in first at the end of the cup. You don't have to come in first on each race, just get a gold at the end. This includes the Rally Cup....
