I'm stuck on the giant robot in the city!!! I keep returning the missiles and it isn't killing him! HELP!

To beat the giant robot, first you need to go to the weak spots and when your done with that, go to the eye and when it say's press Y repeatedly, press Y like maybe 7 times.
