Chapter 6 cave inferi stuck

So I get to the part where I'm in the cave with dumbledore and Harry and I get the light by the lake and the inferi start coming out. I presume the light should be put in the lamp over the ladder but as soon as I get the light the lamp by the ladder is no longer selectable and the inferi keep killing me. What am I missing? Is seems like a bug and I can't find a work around. I've been stuck here for days. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
