Key trouble need help

It actually got me stuck for a while. There's that place where I think you have to place the crystal on a piedestal to make 4 shark things an an octorock (the four-legged monster that shoots small rocks randomly) appear; defeating each of the sharks is very tricky but each one makes a chest appear with a heart in it. Just ignore them; you need to defeat the octorock. However, since he is on a platform in the middle of water, and you can't get on it, and there's a small wall which blocks all projectiles, you must go right and down, and find the... Chain Chomp! Take it, then stand on the bank next to the octorok, and unleash the mad dog! It will simply gobble up your small round guy in the middle, making a chest appear which conatins the small key. Seeing as this was most almost a month ago, you probably already figured this out, but I'm posting this anyway, just in case. ;)
