I want to catch gengar i went to that freaky and can't find the painting

You have to get a gastly, and train it till it evolves into a hunter, but in order for it to evolve into a gengar you have to trade it with someone, it should eveolve than, and just get them to send it back.

Or there is another way have a ultimate cheats for pokemon action replay thingy and select wild pokemons are shiny then level 99 then go to ball thingy then select 999x master balls then then select modifier codes then scroll down the pokemon list find gengar then play the game then go into some grass then hold down select while running then you will find gengar in wild grass.

Get to snowpoint catch a medicham and trade it with one of the people for a gengar

In snowpoint city you only get a Haunter. Trade the Haunter again and it evolves.
