Flying the plane in sicily

Everytime i start the first chapter in sicily, the plane drops into the sea immediately. It seems i can not control the plane? How do i controle the plane?

By moving the ipad itself. It´s not quite easy to control the plane (I myself have flewn it into the water too often).
