How in the world do I get gold other people bit me regularly I came to the game with 9 gold and that's all I have

You need to build money buildings and satisfy the quests presented to you and you will earn gold.

I am a level 72 player. The only way to get more gold is to spend real money. Doing goals, building money bldgs, attacking other players, etc WILL NOT get you more gold bars

I am a level 74 and there is a way to get gold for free. But it can be time consuming. Please keep in mind that this can only be done if there is NOT a sale on gold going on. Here is how to do it: Open your menu, click Add Funds as if you were going to buy gold. At the bottom of the screen there will be a button that indicates Free Gold (unless there is a gold sale going on then this will be replaced with a "Sale ends in <time>"). When you click the button you will be brought to the TapJoy website. From here you may need to register or log in I'm not sure, mine is automatic. When you have the page for Crime City there will be different task that you can do (i.e. install and run a specific free app). Many of these tasks are free and you only need to install and run the app. Once you have received the gold for this, you can delete the app if you don't want it. Most of these tasks only give you 1 gold bar but it is the only way to get them free.
