I need coconuts - I got one ages ago, and now can't find any!!!

From voyages and occasionally from merchants. Send your ships out as often as you can and collect from your merchants as frequently as you can. You'll also be able to get serums, canvasses, bolts, etc. The "bottleneck" you are likely to face, though, is with serums.
