How do I open the 2nd gate of island 2? (large spider area)

I have the key but also need metal. I could make metal in my smithy but I need access to a mine. There's mines on both first and second islands but I need dynamite to get to the mines on the first island... To make dynamite I need access to the pirate workshop which is behind the door I cannot open without metal. I'm searching the Flying Dutchman but at 35 hours per search I'm doubtful! Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. Each solution to each problem is only solved by a problem that can not be solved. Its like a nasty circle of objectives that all rely on each other that you cannot solve.
