How do you go about childproofing a room in order to up your kid rating?

I don't know about "childproofing", but i just created more children and recieved 5* easily. (two children can appear in each room with one adult.)

Go to the little tool at the bottom right of the screen.
there will be a menu.
click on "kids rooms".
then click on maggie and choose the animal that you want to have a kid.
each animal room can have two kids.
any other person other than maggie costs bones.

The kid friendly in the hotel rating determines if you have a good amount of kids for the pet rooms you have.
