How do i move rooms on tap pet hotel?

You tap on the gear icon in the lower left and tap on the move button. ive always found moving things difficult because if you let it go and its out of place it goes back to where it was. when youre ready to place the item or room you have to double tap it. sometimes i get frustrated with this process.
