Make sure on your settings that your date and time settings in clicked to ON then do whatever you need to do in sims. I started planting then you exit the sims. Go back to settings and change it to OFF and change your date a year in the future and re open sims and badabing :D

Ok so what u do is u exit out, double click on the home button, then hold down on the sims icon until it has a red minus sign and then click on the red minus sign(it will delete it from ur history, but not from ur ipod.) then u will go to settings, change date and time to year 2038, then exit out then double click and erase from history (click red minus sign) and then go back to freeplay!

Or another way is how I do is, go plant some bean and then exit, then go to settings after that click date and time and go to year and change the year to 1970 after you have done that you click the Circle button twice not stopping and it should come up with sims at the bottom and some another apps press the sims like how you delete an app, it should come up a cross on the top left corner and press the cross then. Exit the settings go to sims and should come up with connecting server wait til you see the house, exit and go to settings click date and time turn on the date and time. Go to sims and it should come up again with connecting server wait til you can see your house and and in the plant section you have beans, and to stop them from these weird action click them then do a cross and there you have it skipping time

When I hold down on sims it doesn't come up with a red minus just comes up with a black cross, and when I did that it wiped sims from my ipad and I had to start all over again-.-

Go to ur game: simsfree play, Click ur home button ONCE. Then hit ur home button TWICE, Hit the subtract sign that sits in the upper left corner on the free sims play app. Go to settings, Go to general, Turn off set automatically, Set it past December 25 (I always set it to December 30 or 31) Turn off wifi, Exit out of settings, Go to sims free play, It'll say u have to connect to wifi. Exit out of the app and go to settings, Go to general and turn on "set automatically" Go to sims and ur time fast forwards and ur money goes up, but sometimes u have to do it twice

I saw a youtube video that said to try clicking the red minus on freeplay, turning airplane mode on, changing the date to a couple months ahead, go back to freeplay, when it says you cant connect wait a few seconds, turn wifi on but leave airplane mode on, go back to freeplay and you will be rewarded with either LP, money, completed buildings or all your sims being inspired. If you dont get what you wanted first time, keep trying! It worked for me after a few tries. Hope this helped :)
