I also believe it's randome, but it seems like the benefit of the winner is what quality is best for the fighter they are training with, of that makes any sense.

I agree it seems as if you need to train your fighters with fighters of different attributes for them to get the boost. for example training a "lucky fighter" with a "tough fighter" will get one of the two a boost in their opponents natural attribute.

It's random.
If you want to get a 4 training boosts, you will have to train the fighters that you want the other fighters to have. For example, u train a male nurse and a doctor, then the male nurse or doctor will get the male nurse's or doctore's boost
