Losing progress with the upgrade

If I upgrade the game software, do I lose all progress that I have made over the past few months? I'm on level 36 right now and don't want to start over.

Yes you will i had access to many merchant now I have to buy 30 more homes to get the same merchants I was saving money to buy. If you do not have mermaids do not worry as I have lost 20 straight times
