How do I increase overall pet damage?

I've tried synthesizing two moderately high gen pets (20 and 22) which gave me level 7 properties but when i synthesized skills its damage went down drastically. Do I just keep synthesizing skills till i get level 5 instead of 4?

Try Atk or Mtk addition / Atk or Mtk Gift Property
