Question & Answers

Is my battleship good enough?

My ship is 38558 tons heavy and has 72419 horsepower, most of which is provided by my one and only angled boiler. It goes at least 85 knots. It has 2 propellers and 1 large rudder. It is 145 meters long and is 40 meters wide. It is at least 30 meters in height, which is needed for my Radar/Rangefinder to work. Its draft is 12.2 meters. It has 1 46 cm, 1 triple 40 cm, 6 39.5 cm+, 2 20 cm, 2 15 cm, 2 12.7 cm, 20 12 cm, 4 76 mm and finally 2 47 mm guns. It's strength is 1053.5 MW, and has a toughness of 271.5 GJ, with 285 MJ of armor. It's stability is 63.3 but I don't know why when it stays still, the ship sorts of tilt front and back slightly, even though the angle is stated as 0. Thanks for having the patience to read my question carefully to the end, if you did, and I hope your answers will be helpful.

Make your ship wider so its more stable

U could make it wider OR remove guns. Guns usually decrease stability. Making it wider will make it an easy target plus slowing it down.

Thanks. My ship also has a flat bottom. Does that do anything else to stability? Also is there anything else that I can do to increase my ship's survivability as my ship sinks at the same time the fortress Pisces sinks? The two other ships won't be destroyed yet though.

Well first, make your ship's hull 2 blocks tall and entirely made of 600mm lightweight armour. This will greatly improve its defense. and no, a flat bottom is perfect for stability.

My hull is just only 2 blocks tall! The area which supports the rest of the ship is the hull, right? I do have the very bottom layer nearly entirely made of 600mm armor, though it isn't lightweight. But I do have some lightweight 600mm elsewhere and I have 100k resource, enough to make my whole ship out of lightweights.

But my bottom-most layer is 4 blocks wide only and is half as wide as the top layer of my hull. My ship was designed like that to save weight and increase speed.

If the body style was that of a skele with 600mm armor that can support the 46's, you will have stability issues.. Well it goes for most ships, just add 8x3 outriggers on the sides of your ship. Like really small hulls that extend from the ship. It solves the stability issue without increasing the ships profile too much.
