By a boiler and put the prop in a strategic place

I have 8 angle boilers on the back of the fortress but its still 52 knots.

Make a an upward facing wedge without half blocks at the back and front. If that doesn't get you 194.4 knots, then not much else will. I've never liked fortresses, barges like mine always seem to be better in most regards. Colon pee.

Tip 1 don't use fortress simple the reason for your slow fort is the fact that it is square the aero dynamics of the ship has a big influence on the ship speed also it is not wise to have so many boilers if a boiler gets hit your ship takes more damage, my ship has 1 gas turbine and goes 100 knots so make sure you get rid of all your boilers replace with 1 or 2 gas turbines and make your fortress aero dynamic and you should get more speed.

Oh you need much more than one or two, between 6 and 12 is best, 1 or 2 or even 4 doesn't give enough power, and can be destroyed far too easily.

If you have 6-12 boilers it will take up to much space also boilers are normally a weak spot also I noticed that having 6 boilers barely increases the speed of the ship my ship is huge and 1 gas turbine is plenty.

Also having so many boilers at the back gives it too much weight at the back slowing it town also one of my ships has 20 large aircraft boilers covered and takes a few hits to slow my ship to a complete stop so more boilers doesn't mean that it's harder to destroy

Well our opinions differ here too, my ship with 9 angled boilers has very rarely been stopped. Additionally, more weight at the back shouldn't make a difference, as most good ships (such as mine) will reach the maximum speed easily. A second longer to get there doesn't matter. Having half the chance of being immobilized does matter, though. PS: My ship easily fits my boilers on it, 600m long, 80m wide.

Actually weight at the back doesnt make a difference in speed but it does in stability. Having too much weight can cause your fortress to rise at the front if you have too little weight. If that happens fast ships can easily slip into the gap and flip you over. Oh and Lagoe your ship has rarely been stopped because it is fast and agile. we be talkin bout a fort here mate XD
