How to keep heavy armored ship moving?! (Closed)
I have a heavily armored ship (with light armour ) I have 4 acc boilers and a medium boiler on my supper carier. Goes at speeds around 46 knots but after about 1/3 damage the ship slows down to 6 knots. Ps the medium boiler is under the deck
Answer from: Death's Rival
Put heavy ballasts at the bottom/back, it should help ALOT
Answer from: Hi
Umm maybe the blast radius is to big and gets through your armor and hits the boilers. Also, why do you use medium boilers. Rather than medium boilers use angled ones as they are much more powerful
Answer from: The Real Lagoe
Online, 46 knots is as slow as a snail so going down to 6 knots shouldn't matter honestly. However, protecting boilers is really the best way to stop any speed decrease happening. The best method is to have protected boilers (meh, just a single block will do against MK45 5" guns and going for protection against 18.1" guns is just wasteful) near the bottom of the stern. They are less likely to be hit here, and even then they should take a hit or two. More good ensurance is to have 10+ in that configuration and then you'll very rarely be stopped as your opponent will really have to focus the boilers down to bring you to a halt (or just have 100+ dive bombers). The ultimate method, really, is just to have boilers very deep inside of a ship with a large draft, but this then leads to loss of speed (having a deep draft, that is) so it really just contradicts the goal here, but still.

I have an aircraft carier and I am waiting for jets and I have mk45s
Answer from: Troll face
You can try speed tweaking.
Answer from: Righteousmikey
Get better boilers and hide the ones you have. acc boilers are especially good since they're easy protect at the cost of speed and you won't have to do impractical method of burying your boilers like which Lagoe has suggested

Try speed tweaking. Place half blocks at the back of the ship, the pointy end facing forward, the square end at the bottom. Then make "tunnels" for your propellers. Place them 2 blocks into your ship, so the top and sides are inclosed. This made my ship go from approx. 40 knots to 196.4 knots.
