There are flowers and stuff in the market that attract butterflies, but do i need to buy them?

You do not need to buy those things. They are just to make your farm look better.

You don't NEED to buy flowers and other farm decorations, but you do get "Dream Farm" Achievement awards. You get diamonds for certain levels of decoration.
