I'm stuck with a score of 47,000 and only 2 stars, what do I need to do to get 3? Please help

I'm having the same problem. I buy all the power ups, and even when I get through the level using the minimum bubbles I just get right under 3 stars. What the f?

The trick to Level 9 is to continuously pop bubbles every single throw. This grows your score exponentially. If you have even 1 throw that doesn't pop bubbles, you will not get 3 stars. Also, do not worry about popping your way to the top right away. The more times you throw (and continuously pop bubbles each turn), the higher your score.
I probably played this level 100 times and finally decided to read the instructions in the game settings. In the How to Score Points section, they note that long streaks of popping bubbles each time grows your score fastest.

Actually, I found that working your way UP from the BOTTOM works. And yes, you must ALWAYS pop a bubble cluster.
