Strange fossil found after expanding
I have come across a strange gray fossil after expanding my park. I tried looking in the market to see if it matched anything, but none of the fossils match this one. I tried clearing land around it to see if I could pick it up (I thought it might be a secret item), but this has failed to work too. The fossil is located at the top left corner of my map (next to areas with clouds) and appears to be what looks like a fossil of some sort of bird or triceratops relative (it's difficult to tell). Please, I've spent hours trying to even find proof that someone else can see this phenomenon too.
Answer from: Brandon
I have that fossil too. For now, it is just decoration. I was hoping that it would be something cool, but alas. It is a little weir/random that it is there and there is nothing else like it in any of the other expansions
Answer from: Grant
Yeah. I visited a park in my game and saw the same fossil in the same place too. Maybe it's a marker for the corner of the map?
Answer from: thad
Have you guys tried building something right there to see if it gives a % increase to whatever is near it like the other fossils?
Answer from: Brandon
I do have some dinos near it. It doesn't give a coin % increase or anything
Answer from: Lewis
I've got that too! Mabey in an update it will do something!
Answer from: DaN3gErOuS
I have come across this too... Does any body know what it's for ??
Answer from: Weeeeee
I have that fossil to, it just look like woody woodpecker
Answer from: Thedudeval
Actually its just a marker for the end of the map. sorry guys, nothing special (shame)
Answer from: Po
It's an Easter egg
Answer from: Sasha
If you look closely there's an air vent on it as well
Answer from: Thedudeval
Oh yeah, True. Then if thats got an air vent on it cant be a natural fossil so WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING IF ITS GOT AN AIR VENT ON IT?? Oh yeah and Po, what makes YOU think its an easter egg? its not even an egg shape, and no egg splinters or anything. It looks a bit like donald duck :-) It looks like some kind of skull.
Answer from: Dean751
The bottom of the fossil looks like it has numbers on it. Not a vent. But I could be wrong
Answer from: Celtic Warrior
I have the stone two...i was thinking it was a marker for an aviary section of the park (like the aquatic section) since there seems to be large boulders underneath the clouds behind it.
Answer from: Anon
Its woody wood pecker.
Answer from: Jakers
I don't remember that one being on InGens list
Answer from: Dork
That's because it wasn't on their list!
Answer from: Barry
@Thedudeval: an Easter egg is an intentional hidden object in a game, movie, or some other kind of media. Po was not meaning that it looks physically like an Easter egg.
Answer from: Simo
It just the marker stone for the corner. Looks like a name plate like on the rex fossil.
Answer from: Mr. Question
I have the fossil too! It is an Archaopetryx fossil I think.
Answer from: cricket
It looks like it requiters an event event it has clouds on it but they don't look like the end of map its sticking out my guess is next update will know
Answer from: T-dog
I have it too but i dont think its a marker for the map because I have built stuff past it.
Answer from: skiczn
I dont think it is anything. maybe just a tribute to the original game - the crashed helicopter had a picture of woody wood pecker on the tail in the original - maybe its just a homage to that?
Answer from: the ark
The numbers/letters on the stone is I22T, I think it might be a cheat code.
Answer from: CodeRedFred
Just a little easter egg. Universal Studios produced Jurassic Park, but their first animated cartoon was Woody Woodpecker back in the 40s. Just a little nod to the past. Nothing more.
Answer from: dino king
I have seen it to but mabe its a secret dino that no 1 has figured out to get
Answer from: well duh
Is it the yutyrannus?
Answer from: jurassicparktom
The way to activate the fossil is by placing a t-rex near to it and it gives you a 100% increase. hope this helps
Answer from: jason
@jurassicparktom: i placed a trex next to the fossil and didnt get the 100% increase. i have just the right side next to the statue cleared out. do i need to clear out the other side too? what do i need to do?
Answer from: bigred
Its a woody wood pecker representing the makers of this games first cartoon . the developers made a statment saying " they were just having some fun ". it doesnt do anything .!
Answer from: jusable
You guys are on glue or crack cause its not an air vent its a plaque on the rock which decribes the fossil meaning it is a easter egg meaning its just a little something for you to look at and call it what you want i think its just a rock of woody woodpecker and it doent do anything other than look pretty
Answer from: lucas
It certainly couldn't be a map marker because there is only one.
Answer from: Nick n. Ame
Actually it's not an air vent. It's a plaque. I think the developers put it there to mark the farthest end of expansion. It must have some kind of meaning we don't know but they do!
