Upgrading items

I've upgraded my radar twice annoy I don't see any improvement. What items should I worry about upgrading first?

The radar just makes it more likely to catch a more fish, and i think you should focus on upgrading your ship because it is much easier to by a better rod, reel, or lure than a ship.
