Veteran rod VS equus rod

Which is better? i know it cost coins to repair the equus, and costs 450 coins to get... but its easy to get with all the "free coin" offers for downloading. just a question before i get to far into the game .. im at addict rep now.

Veteran rod has better potential because it can be upgraded. Equus can't be upgraded, so it wont be able to catch the best fish in the game.

My equus rod is +2 ... it can be upgraded, or u mean it cant be upgraded as much? or u think theres a differance between android and iphone?
