Once the clan castle is rebuilt you can officially join a clan and battle to wan more goodies vs other users

Adjust as he said, with a clan, if you get attacked, then you and your clan can give revenge to that player that attacked you, and you can help out your clan members by joining their battles against the opposition. I think that by rebuilding the clan castle is the best choice that you can make. (although I haven't yet rebuilt it :) but can't wait to get enough money to do though.) I'm only on level 6 you see.
AND NO, IM NOT A GAME ADDICT, THIS IS THE ONLY GAME I HAVE REALLY BEEN HOOCKED INTO. All in all, I highly recommend building he castle. Another reason being that every time I get home from school and finish my homework, I get on the game and a sig comes up saying: "your colony was attacks while you where away." But I think that with a clan, they could of helped me in that situation! Hope this was enough info about the topic.

Really, the only thing it does is allowing you to join a clan. The only way it helps defend you is your clan mates can send you troops, which can be used in battle, or defense.
