What is the icon that appears on the right? It looks like you can choose between 3 symbols? One is a shield, one is a target, and one is airplanes I guess?

The shield means that the other friendly planes will escort you. The target symbol means that the friendly planes will choose a target. The one for the airplanes is that they will fly in formation with you where ever you go.
