They are fossils, in the flea market you have to buy the fossil collector guide and give it to one of the family members, once you do this, whenever you drag one of your little people to the holes, they will dig up fossils, the guide is quite expensive around 1300

The glowing dirt patches are grave sites, you need to purchase a certificate in order to dig for bones, you can find this certificate in the flea market so keep checking it is 1500 coins for me

No ive had this come up too. I can dig for fossils but every so often an actual hole (not a shimmering brown spot) appears in the upper right side of the yard. None of my little people can do anything with it/nor recognize it when dropped on it. Still trying to figure this one out.

MM, That is suppose to be a gopher hole. You'll notice in one of your goals it says something about praising one of your people for chasing gophers. Sometimes your people will patch the hole up, but they do it on their own, and the gophers come on their own as well. You really just have to wait and see what happens. Best of luck. xx

What if your flea market is frozen and not working? Not fair because mine doesn't! Is there another way instead, where you click a kids detail button, then you click the button on the top left corner of the screen, and then last you send them to boarding school, or online learning classes, and when they grow up, you pick them for the generation allowing that person to be able to put together the fossil, and then you get the goal?

As far as i know, they r spots to dig 4 fossils. to dig you need to purchase the kit from the flea market (sadly i have not seen the kit yet, and its very expensive)

MM: I just stumbled across the answer to your "What is this random hole in the top right portion of my screen" issue. Once in a while, one of your children's action bars will read 'digging a hole to China'. Then they will head up to the top right lawn and dig a hole. It will stay for a while and eventually disappear on its own. It serves no other function as far as I can tell.

MM actually one of my children I found digging a hole to china (I thought it was strange) it looked very similar to a gopher hole and it was used as one when I dropped one of my people on it

You need to buy the fossil guide from the flea market when you see it show up. Also in reply to MM, it may be a gopher hole or sometimes you might see your people next to it saying 'digging a hole to China' ?!
