Chapter 2 where do I put the device to reflect the light?

Can you help please I'm on the 2nd chapter and I've got to the bit where a telescope thing is on top of the table, I know I need to use the device I picked up to reflect the light beam but I really don't know where to put it? I have tried everywhere I can think of and nothing's worked! It's driving me mad now.. Lol
