Question & Answers
How do combinations to attract fish work?
I have put some combinations together that create lighting patterns on the screen... such as 1) yellow plateau plant and heap of stones 2) yellow table plants/red branches but no guest fish have come. What do I need to do, wait? plant more? move the combination to a new area? Any ideas are welcome. thank you
Answer from: Mel
You need to plant those plants side by side (i.e. a yellow table plant directly beside red branches). After that, you should notice this blue/purple patch on the ground that occassionally glows around them. If you plant an extraordinary mystery seed in that purple area, you will attract rare fish. Note that this only works with extraordinary mystery seeds, not the regular mystery seeds (at least that's been my experience), so plan on saving the pearls you earn when you level up to do this.

On my iPhone, I can't see the fish unless I zoom in a little. They disappear if I zoom all the way out. So if you have planted the appropriate combinations and don't see the new fish, try zooming in. :-)

Yep that is exactly right. ^^^^ when I zoom out I only have 12 fish (marlin, Nemo, dory, Bloat) But when I'm zOomed in I see about 4 or 5 small fish of the same type, then when I zoom out they disappear

Try the giant green seabush with the green seaweed ornament. Also, try pairing the purple green shrub with the giant brown sea grass!

I've been messing around with combinations today, putting red branches all over the place and attracted the yellow dusky batfish. I'm level 17, hope this helps.

Combinations of plants attract small fish you can only see if you zoom in. When a combination has been planted you will see a bright light form and light up the plants of the combination. The purple lighting indicates you have planted the right combination you then need to zoom in. These fish are small so can't be seen when zoomed out. There are many combinations to attract small fish, look at other peoples reef while zoomed in to see what they have and what attracted them.

I just started Nemo's Reef a day ago. Based on what I have learned, I know when you plant the right plants next to eachother, (For example, a yellow table plant next to the red branches) a purple light will form around the plants. That means you have planted the right combination together. Now you may want to zoom in to see what fish have come. You must zoom in to see certain fish because they are so small. Some tips I know is DONT SPEED UP THE GROWTH!! When you get to higher levels, (Level 18 for example) things will cost 10s of thousands of pearls! On one level the quest asks you to buy 8 Extraordinary Mystery Seeds (10 pearls each, which makes a total of 80 pearls!). Another tip is to buy 25-50 Yellow Table Plants. They give you 2 Sand Dollars per 30 seconds! Also purchase 25-50 Fan Corals. They give you 2 algae per 30 seconds! Also these are good because each plant only cost 10 Sand Dollars! So buy 150 seconds, you have already earned your 10 Sand Dollars back. I hope this was helpful and useful to all of you! Thank you for reading and good luck on the game.

I like to use the sunset cups, instead of the fan. It is a couple mins longer but gives more in algae and exp. I have had great luck with having any mystery seed(pearl or sand dollar bought) as long as it is in the purple light. I made a little area with table plants / red brach / a rock.
