How does upgrading special powers with gems work?
Gems can be used for Save Me, obviously, but they can also be used to upgrade your special powers (activated by the meter). Paying gems raises the green bar in the square for each special power, but it isn't clear what the green bar indicates or when it is used up or how long it lasts. I originally assumed that upgrading your special powers was permanent, and that filling up the green bar all the way would max out the special power. But I filled up my boost about halfway, and then a few games later, when I looked at it again, the square was back down to empty. Was this a glitch? Or are these upgrades temporary? If they are temporary, does anyone have any more details on how they work? Do they last for one run only? Or a few runs? Or does the green bar go down a small amount after each run? I don't feel like wasting a bunch more gems just to figure out their system.

I have the same question, I'm hesitant to use my gems for what may be just a one run bonus. Anyone have an answer for this?

I want to know to after I just wasted over 20 gems on maxing out the magnet and the bar just disappeared

No we mean when you upgrade the power ups

If you put 6 gems in it it works 6 times, if you put 12 gems in it it works 12 times... Its as simple as that

I am only in level 8. There are only 6 power ups and I only got to 5 of them. For magnet, speed boost, and shield, upgrading the ability one time will increast the time of ability by around 20%. (Used a timer and a friend to help me.) It takes 10 upgrades to max out the ability. So you are looking at 200% longer abilities. For coin bonus, and point bonus, the ability will double when you upgrade it 10 times. (to the max). I will guess that the gem bonus works the same way. Also note that it only works for ONE run! Once you get that game over menu, those upgrades are done. However, you can use the save me ability to extend the run and the upgrades will still be in effect during the run.
