Can't date partner?

I can't seem to go on a date with my partner in my contact list, who is from the game itself and not one of my friends from Game Center. It only shows the friends I have from Game Center so when I want to go on a date they're the ones that only shows up. This is frustrating 'cause I spent time and money him, T____T!
