Question & Answers

Friend list arrangement

Can someone tell me how the friend list is arranged because it's not in alphabetical order or by level. When I want to send someone a gift, I have to go through the WHOLE list to find that person. Am I missing something?

Sadly, you are not missing anything. It is just where they seem to fall into place on the G5 scheme of things. No order. Just random placement. But maybe @Argh or @MrsB have found some pattern I've yet to discern.

Answer from: MrsB
Nope, completely random. I think if your are friends on Facebook they go to the front, but not sure about that.

I would say Facebook friends don't float to the top, I have them spotted throughout my list. It would be a nice feature, to be able to sort your friends AND your collections either manually or via some preselected options. Having spent some years as a programmer, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to do but it could have an effect on performance so maybe that's why they don't do it.

@all A player does have some hidden number/code assigned to it that affects its position. I know this because when Gwen asked many of us to delete her and add her back to her our friends list, she fell into the exact same position as before deletion (for me). I can only assume it was the same for everyone in Gwens case. Which means... how and more specifically WHY G5 arranges the list that way remain a mystery.

I wish they would let us arrange our friends. It would make gifting to active friends much easier.

@Brian, I found your post very interesting so I did a test of my own. I created a dummy player on an old ipod which I then added to my friends list. After deleting the dummy account and adding it back as a friend it fell into the exact spot as you have indicated. It was true indeed. No wonder they call you Brain... ;) Beth

@BA Thanks for the... compliment? Ha! Now all I need is your number (code). *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*

@Brian, if you are interested here's info from the game regarding you as a friend that can be found on all devices:
(note: the file content is from apr 08 just after midnight MST and one new thing compared to previous versions, all the numbers that now have .0 never did before, i.e. under the achievement and wishes sections all used to be whole numbers, now they have decimals added to them), anyway the "suid_xxxxxx" is unique to each player and the file has each friend listed in order from low to high suid_number
