Why Do Good Friends Turn Bad?

This has happened with three different friends over the months I've played the game: A friend who always sends wish list gifts or ladybugs starts sending junk? I don't mean the occasional gold key that's on the front page of the gift lists and can be accidentally tapped (I've done that once or twice, so I get it). I mean day after day of scrolling through the gift list to send something on a different page that is not in my wish list.

Aside from extremely rare times that I have no internet connection (it's happened maybe twice since October) and those times that the server was failing and none of us could send gifts, I ALWAYS return gifts (either wish list or ladybug) before the clock rolls over for the next day. I don't send gifts first, but that was for two reasons: (1) I had too many "Taker" friends who never returned if I sent first and (2) I had hundreds of friends at one point and would consistently send 50 gifts and 10 collection items per day, so I didn't want to send first to some and not be able to send a return gift for others.

Anyway, this was more of a rant than anything else. Anyone want to commiserate? I just don't understand why previously great friends start sending cork screws and top hats.

I have no idea. This has happened to me too. I give them something from their wish list and get junk in return. But... If you are getting coins and stuff, a local friend of mine will sit here in my house... Send something I want, and I get a coin. Maybe it's the same thing. For those OTHER things, I send the same thing back.

Look in the sub-category at the top of this page with Glitches in the name for an answer. There is a glitch in the game where the game will send junk like a coin if you click on a collectable item in a friend's wish list that you have only one of. To avoid this, you have to go to that item in the Send Collections tab, scroll until you find the item, and send from there. Your friends are probably unaware of this glitch and are In reality trying to send you something that you want.

The sub-category is called Playing Guides, Glitches and FAQs, and the thread is called gifting.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that glitch! Ash or anyone of my friends - did I "send" junk to you guys before??? I always give what my friends want so curious if that happened to me when I send gifts

Yep, I've had that with the coin, but I know that's a glitch in the game. In this situation, I've been sent Valentines items (the ones used to combine the collection) when I've had those finished for over a month, so I have absolutely no need for more. And I don't understand why they scroll through the gift page to purposely give something I obviously don't want or need. It's just odd. It's like they're retaliating for something, but I always visit and send wish list gifts, so I don't know what the thought process is behind it.

I have fewer than 50 friends so I will gift even the takers everyday because I can. But if I'm limited in my strength and not about to level up, I think - no, I won't charge pictures unless the friend has charged me first. But then what if that friend is thinking that they won't charge my pictures unless I charge them first? LOL

Anyway, another thing to consider is what you have on your wishlist vs your friends levels. I have one friend whose wishlist is almost always exclusively collection items I don't have and collection elements I am not high enough level to gift. So I will send him a teapot or ladybug most times. On one or two occasions out of annoyance I just sent him a random free gift because scrolling to find a good free gift can be so time consuming. He often responds by sending me back those items not something from my wishlist. Which is okay - I always seem to need teapots and ladybugs...but I wonder if he realizes I can't give him the stuff on his wishlist!

@Angie, no, you've never sent me anything that's glitched. I've had it happen a few times in the past (not with your gifts) but I knew about the problem, so I sent a return gift in thanks, knowing that they at least tried to send me a good gift :). Thanks for being such a good friend!

Ash you have been a great friend and one of the first. If I have sent random gifts I'm sorry. My work load is really mad at the moment and I have been finding a very quick half hour to do a quick gift and visit to my good friends although probably missed loads of you out. It's the weekend so hopefully have more time to be more accurate. Sorry

I have a friend or two who does this too, and it's always annoyed me. I know they're at a high enough level to give me things from my wish list and yet they go to the trouble of sending me something entirely different. And I always gift them from their list, so why?

Oh, and Angie: I've never gotten things I didn't wish for from you. You're a great friend. :)

@Fee, it's not you, so don't worry! I always forgive the once-in-a-blue-moon gift from the first page of the list - I know those could always be random accidents (I've accidentally clicked those a time or two). These are people who consistently ignore the wish list and scroll through the pages of free gifts to send me a Valentine Heart or Top Hat. Things I might have needed at one point in the past or in the future, but right now it's useless. And they do it everyday. I've started turning into a taker friend with those people and don't return anything to them (unless I'm feeling particularly vindictive and then I might send them a similar item as long as it's not on their list). Thanks for all the gifts! You've been great!

I was wondering the same thing. Sometimes I will get 6 or 7 collectibles of things that I don't want or need at all from I person. I always send something on their wish list. After awhile if all they ever send is junk then I delete them as a friend. I would rather send my good gifts to friends that deserve it.

I don't know if these gifts are sent deliberately. I myself wouldn't bother getting into the collection items to find something to give (I only do it exceptionally to give my last item to very good friends). It's much easier to tap something from the wish list instead or give a ladybug.

Many of those items you've received that you don't need or want are "thank you" gifts and the person has no choice of what gets sent for that. I asked the same question a week or two ago. Interesting fact to find out.

Answer from: Ash
Neely, thank you gifts come in a white box and are completely random. These are actual daily gifts that you can see what they are before you accept them.
