Multiplying and gift box, did you know...

There was a question today from nitey4ever about multiplying and if there is a way of keeping the gifts in your gift box after multiplying to multiply again later. There are a couple of things that I've found that I thought I would share in case you weren't aware of them. I've tested this on Samsung Tab 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as iPad Air and it works the same on all these.

IMPORTANT: Please, If you try this, try on a few unimportant items first to see if this works for you! I don't want to be responsible for gift boxes being cleared of goodies in case it doesn't work!

Rearranging your gift box:

You will most likely get combining items interspersed with collection items in you gift box. If you want to just multiply the combining items for instance and leave the others for later all you have to do is:

Tap "accept" on a combining item then click the little "x"
Move to the next combining item and do the same
Continue to do this until you've accepted and closed all the items you want.
Keep the gift box open
Hit the home key
Go back to the game
You will find all the items you have closed are together at the front of your gift box. You can continue to multiply them as you would normally...this of course works for any item that you would like to group together for multiplying :)

Keeping gifts to multiply later:

If you only have a short time to multiply but really want to keep those paintbrushes and carrots to multiply again later you can just:

Multiply as normal then on last go
Click "accept" then click the little "x"
Keep gift box open
Hit home key
Return to game
The items closed will reappear (at start of gift box)
Close gift box
Multiplied items will be added to inventory but if you open the gift box the original gifts should still be there (in their original place).

You can use both these methods together to multiply but if you rearrange your gift box then finish off closing the items with the "x" the rearranged items will still be in your gift box but they will be back to their original spot. If this makes sense!

This way you can always keep a supply of important items like carrots and arrows to multiply if you wanted.

Please give this a go, REMEMBER to test first. Hope it works for you, please let me know if it does :)

Really really great post Bluebell, I never knew this. Wonderful information thank you so much. There must be something in the Scottish atmosphere today as I posted a thread just before this! The Scottish influence! Up with the kilts, hunt the haggis ha ha ha!

I knew about most of this except, accept gifts, and then save for later. I accepted - multiplied - "X"ed the gifts went out - back in - closed gifts - got multiplies - but then could not do more than accept them once more. cannot multiply them

Hi Grey, I was managing this fine this morning, but tried again after reading your post and it seems that I can no longer multiply these gifts :( I don't know if this is temporary or not but I was able to multiply my gifts then come back to them later. I will try again and see if it changes. I have had intermittent problems with multiplying recently, I have lost gifts a few times when the gift box hasn't refreshed, I'm hoping that this is temporary, but I reckon G5 will be looking at sorting the multiplying glitch, it must be costing them a lot of money :( The rearranging of gifts is unaffected though, that still works and helps when you want to multiply only certain items at one time.

I had the same thing happen as Grey. Saved a couple items to multiply again later. Could accept just once but couldn't multiply. And couldn't thank either on he last go round.

I managed over last night and this morning to multiply a lot of carrots and bugs using this method but it's just not happening now :( I'm rather sad about this but thankful that I can still multiply at the moment. Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up. I hope the rearranging of the gift box still helps though. I've been multiplying in bite size portions after losing gifts a number of times recently and this helps when multiplying sets. Sorry everyone!

Rearranging works great and is very helpful when you want to multiply certain things and only have a little bit of time. Thanks for the tip!

I use to be able to do it your way bluebell before the last kindle update, now mine is like greys if I close out and come back I can only re-multiply previous items once before they vanish and I believe my friend doesn't receive a thank you either.

Thanks, Bluebell, for posting this process. I tried it and it works for me, and best of all, it's much easier than the way I used to do it. Like others though, once I close the gift box and reopen it, the gifts that I multiplied are there only once more, then they are gone. So, I just multiply as much as I want, then thank, close, and wait for the next batch. If I'm not mistaken, I think Grey (?) might have posted this process once before, but I guess my brain wasn't ready to receive and understand it then - I'm sure glad it did this time, because it's SO much easier. Thanks again!

Thanks Bluebell for the multiplying tip. It sure helps to rearrange my gift box as some items I don't want to multiply as many times and others, like bugs and carrots, I want to multiply a lot. Makes it easier to have them grouped together!

Can anyone tell me what happens, while using this method, if another gift comes in? For example, if I receive ten gifts from my box, hit the home button, re-enter the game, and now there are eleven gifts in my box, will the original ten go away after I receive them once again, (if I didn't close the gift box, but only exited the game and re-entered the game with the gift box still open), or will I now be able to multiply all eleven?

Posted: Aug 23, 2014, 10:48 AM

Answer from: OneMoreKin
No the new gift doesn't go away but you have to ignore all new gifts (don't include them in your process) while multiplying, close out when you are done and then go back to your gift box and the new gifts will be there.

Does all this work on a kindle? My boxes are filled with good things, so I don't want to lose them.

My family was Scottish before the 18th century. We went to America. Am I still Scottish?

Answer from: WoMa
@ Nina - I play on a Kindle and only just started using this process to multiply today. It's definitely not like multiplying on a Kindle before the Tavern update. I don't think you can keep gifts in the gift box for an extended period of time like you could before. However, it seems to take less time to multiply, since you don't turn the internet off, you don't have to wait for it to kick back on. Hope that helps!

Why do I lose half objects each time I copy?

Answer from: Sue
This is the easiest way I have found to order my gift box for multiplying on my ipad.
1. Clear my wish list to slow down incoming gifts and to reassess my needs after multiplying.
2. If you are quick you can duplicate a few TY's by accepting them BEFORE the little white loading wheel disappears - this doubles your gifts.
3. Scroll through and accept all TY's - this will bring them to the front of your list for easy multiplying without further scrolling - the more the merrier so you can just tap top left like a maniac
4. Next I scroll through for all gifts with NoTY. I accept AND click 'x' - this will bring them all to the front of your list for easy multiplying without further scrolling - thanks for the tip Bluebell :-)
5. Next I scroll through for all the combining elements. I always accept AND thank on the first round - this will bring them all to the front of your list for easy multiplying without further scrolling. When you finish multiplying, close out to receive gifts - DO NOT THANK again!
6. I leave ALL collection items, fireflies, ladybugs, carrots and arrows in my gift box UNTOUCHED until I have 10-12 of the same for multiplying. I multiply these as above always accepting AND thanking on the first round to bring them to the front of the list.
7. New gifts will always go to the front of the list and you can accept these at any time but if you are near the end of a multiplying round, I would just skip them until finished.
8. Set your new wish list - rinse and repeat.
If you don't have time to watch all the items go into your collections, just click on any picture then back again or go out and back into the game.
Hope this helps :-)

Wow Sue, that's some great advice there thanks :) I will make sure that I clear my list before multiplying next time. I'm loving your colour co-ordinated WL by the way, It's a lovely yellow today and was green yesterday :)

I now normally thank on the first time round too, this way, if there's any problems and I lose the gifts at any point (this has happened a number of times recently) I have still thanked my friends. I think most people thank on the last round of multiplying though.

Apologies to everyone trying the multiplying later method I mentioned, it doesn't work. When I tried this the night before last I was multiplying small amounts, then coming back a bit later and trying again. I had saved up and had nearly 200 carrots and bugs in my gift box, I had already multiplied the collection items. I thought the items were multiplying again but it looks like new items were coming in and the old items to multiply later must have been disappearing but I didn't realise this :(

Still glad we can multiply though, I'm off to do some more I've got a full gift box, thanks to my amazing friends :)

Also @NINA I think you would still be classed as Scottish or a Scottish American. I think even if you have the tiniest bit of Scottish blood you could call yourself Scottish :) find your tartan and wear it with pride! I imagine your ancestors settled in America during the Highland Clearances, the 18th and 19th century saw a lot of Scots emigrating.

Hi Smuffin :-) Thank you, I'd never really thought about it before. There have been a few posts about multiplying and gifting lately so I thought I'd just put my 2 cents in :-)

Hi Bluebell :-) Thank you, I decided to colour co-ordinate my wish list to make my friends smile - hope it's working :-)

Oh goodness, this has been great. I have learned a lot and thanks folks. My gifts are so much easier to collect, especially sorting the friends with no thank you requests.

@Sue I did mean to mention the colour coordinated wl! You are my second good friend who does this. @KaReN also has a matching wl, I noticed it weeks ago. Being a part time artist, I'm sensitive to colours. @Nina, welcome to Scots Wa Hae. @Bluebell, sending thanks for this post.

Woohoo! I'm Scottish. Well, my dad.says.Forbes clan, and I have a winter scarves with my tartan. It's kind of an ugly green, blue, and yellow plaid.

I finally figured out that half my gifts were a result of my close the window when I reenter the game

If you don't close your game out and let your device sleep your gifts should still be there.

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie when it comes to this game. I think I learn something new every other time I play! :) I've recently caught on to multiplying on my Kindle. The info above from a lot of you is awesome, really. I know this is a crazy little question but I just want some verification I'm doing multiplying correctly. Isn't multiplying clicking on accept on the gifts u want but don't click on thank you? Then exit out game come back and do it all over again? When y'all were talking about clicking on the "x" of certain items I thought that would only make the item/items disappear? Does that make sense? :/ I'm sorry to be so thick headed about all of this! :) lol

Answer from: Sue
Hi Ashley :-) Information over-load for newbies - sorry guys. When you multiply your gifts, you would generally send 1 Thank You (TY) for each gift received unless they have NoTY in their name. I prefer to accept then thank immediately on the first round as it will bring all the gifts you've accepted to the front of your gift box. After you accept NoTY gifts, you can click the 'x' instead of thank to bring this gift to the front of your gift box. By accepting then thanking or clicking 'x' it gives you the option of ordering your gift box. Hope this helps :-)

Posted: Aug 25, 2014, 15:49 PM

Answer from: NINA
HappyFrog. I was thinking it was vague about the whole clicking the x thing. What I think she meant that, except for 1 round of accepting, click on the x so that you don't end up sending hundreds of thank yous. You still multiply just the same if you click on the thank link, but you also risk screwing up someone's gift box. If I'm wrong, please correct me, because I should know this sh@$. :)

Answer from: Sue
Hi Nina :-) On my FIRST round of multiplying I choose what gifts I want to accept by scrolling through my whole gift box. By clicking on the 'thank' or 'x' (for those with NoTY) on the first round it will 1. get all the thanking done as requested for each gift and out of the way ready for multiplying and 2. it will bring all those accepted gifts to the front of your gift box. For EVERY round of multiplying after that, you just click to 'accept' the gifts - all your thanking and NoTY's were done in the first round. BTW if you find the odd 'thank' left in your gift box after you close out of multiplying, you can safely click on the 'x' to remove it knowing that you have done all your 'thanking' on your first round of multiplying. Hope this helps :-)

@Sue, Bluebell - I wished that your methods worked for me, but no matter how I rearrange my gifts,'tis all for naught once I press the Home button. There must be a pox upon my house, or my game, in this instance. Great instructions, though, and I hope they work for everyone :)
