How/where in the game do I get the manual to go from lvl5 to lvl 6?

I am stuck at the same point and cant level up. I thought the last floor would have earned it and now im at the 5th floor boss and still havent leveled up....400 green slime to go? Thats almost 30 "hard" Bust without earning any more xp points...bug?
