Getting hunter cash

Can you only use the cheat to get more cash on the version you pay for? I have changed the date on my phone and got more energy but it won't give me any cash. What can I do?

Make sure you close the app by double clicking home and holding until the red thing comes up, press it and then do the settings cheat.
