Cannot finish section of Jewel Quest 3

How do you finish the last section of Pacific Quest, Fairbanks, do you need to fill the complete board, or is there a pattern you get complete even though all the blocks are not turned to gold. There is not enough time.It is the section with the little pearls that open the nest square and it the the very last section before the final part.
