Operation swordbreaker

In operation swordbreaker when in the basement with the red wire it tells you to hit the circle button on the controller to beat the terroist but when i keep hitting the circle the terroist kills me what do i do to kill the terroist?

You rapidly hit the o button then after he gos to the ground rapidly hit r1 button
