Battle of Attu defending the base

On the "supply run" portion after dropping supplies one must return and defend the base. i have been trying for a month and cannot get past this level. I have tried everything imaginable from three shots per target then move to the next. attacking from the left and the right. yet somehow i simply cannot destroy all of the enemy before the base falls and I am sent back to the checkpoint... HELP
