What do you do with Wildmutt to get past the red gate in level 2?

Just press find the green gas rising from the ground somewhere, go to it, hold R2, and press square. Wildmutt will start smelling with a green light, and you'll see footprints within the green light. Follow the footprints, and then you'll know what to do.
