How to get past pit with 2 electrical charges

In this psp game, I'm at a pit with a skeleton at the bottom with electricity at opposite ends. Indy uses his whip to set off a big steampipe at the far end of the pit, I don't know what to do next. When he touches the pit he's electrified. Can u help?
