What does installing data do?

I tried to do installing data but when its finished nothing happens can someone tell me about it

Its like installing a game onto an Xbox 360 hard drive. When you install the data, the PSP no longer needs to spin the UMD to play the game, however, the UMD must he kept in to play the game although it wont be used because the data is on the memory stick. It basically helps to preserve your UMD.
