How do i get to the hunting shop to customize and upgrade guns and gear??

When you start to click on a level to play you go to store then click on the gun you want to upgrade then go though the list of things you can do to the gun you whant to upgrade

I cannot access the store before each level. When I click X to start the level, it just starts up and doesn't go through the store. Is there a special way to access the hunting store?
