How to use the cannon

It depends what cannon you're referring to (and if you've posted this under the right game). For example, in Spyro's Adventure, the game you posted this under, there's a cannon shortly through the first level, Shattered Isles. You can use it when you get to it, and it's the first of several throughout the game. Then on Level 2, Perilous Pastures, there's a turret at the end. Again, you can use it as soon as you get to it. It's the first of many throughout the game. "The" cannon sounds more like you might be talking about the newer game, Skylanders Giants. After you complete Wilikin Village, Level 7, they add a turret to Flynn's Ship. There's a red square on the bottom left of the main deck, when you approach this square hatch opens, just drop in. I think you can use it a limited amount until you beat Kaos, then you can visit and re-visit to keep using it for a random turret mini-game. You could also mean the Dragonfire Cannon which comes in a pack with Shroomboom and Chop Chop. This is also for Giants, and it's highly doubtful the cannon will work in Spyro's Adventure, Shroomboom certainly won't. In Giants simply put it on the portal, it'll follow you around for a while.
